Christmas 2008

It has taken me awhile to post this, but we had a wonderful talk with Eric on Christmas. He said to tell everyone hello and that he is having a great time and enjoying very much being a missionary.

We had a little difficulty getting connected with him. He said he would call between 2 and 4pm his time, which is 8-10am here. At about 8:02am our Skype ringer started going off. Unfortunately, while we were able to hear him, the video wasn't working right. It took us about 20 minutes and a restart of the computer to get it fixed, but then we were able to video conference with him for more than an hour. It was really great. He looks fantastic and seems quite happy. He said his missionary labors are going well, with some disappointments but much success.

He got our Christmas package in plenty of time and seemed happy to get the things we sent. He was also very appreciative of a package he got from the young men and women in our local church here in Appleton. He mentioned cards and letters from several others as well. We appreciate those of you who take the time to send him notes from time to time. He often mentions how it boosts him up and helps him through the week.

We also got to talk to Eric's companion, Elder Chan, for a few minutes. He seems like a very nice and thoughtful young man. He was very complimentary of Eric in the things he said about him. It certainly seems like they enjoy working together. Both of them expect that this will be their last month together, but we'll see.

I'm sure there is much more I could say about our Christmas webcam experience, but I'll leave it here and let Linda add to it if she wants to. Merry Christmas everyone.
